Lu Xun’s Former Residence (in simplified Chinese鲁迅故居) is located at the mouth of West Zhou Town. In September 25, 1881, Lu Xun was born here, and he had been living in this residence until he left for school in 18.

Do you know who is Lu Xun? Lu is a very famous writer in China. In fact, he originally studied medical surgery in Japan. However, one day, he saw some videos in Japan, showing some Chinese people being chopped by Japanese soldiers. As a Chinese, he was very shocked. More than that, he found that there were other Chinese in the theatre, but no one felt angry with that. Therefore, he discovered that being a doctor could only save the physical life of people, but only writing could help heal the mental wounds of people. Therefore, he decided to leave the school, and started to write books.

Lu Xun then returned to China, and wrote some very shocking books. At that time, China was still at the era with traditional belief. However, Lu Xun, being a man who had studied in other country, thought most of these rules as uncivilized and he used his articles to criticize the system. He successfully created a very keen debate among writers in China. Some writers clearly disapproved his ideas and used their own articles to attack the viewpoints of Lu, but Lu also got many supporters.

Finally, Lu Xun’s articles are able to influence many people in China. Even nowadays, there are also many people studying the articles of Lu, and Lu Xun’s books have become one of the reference books of people studying Chinese literature. Therefore, Lu is really one of the very famous people in modern Chinese history.

Do you want to know more about Lu Xun? Do you want to know more about the early life of him? If you would like to find the childhood of Lu Xun, and you would like to pay respect to this influential writer, you could try to visit Lu Xun’s Former Residence in Zhejiang Province.

Nanji Islands (in simplified Chinese 南麂列岛) is one of the national marine protected areas in China since 1990. In 1990, there were only five places being approved by the State Council to be nature reserves, and Nanji Islands is one of them. Therefore, the Nanji Islands is really special in China.

Nanji Islands is located in Pingyang County in Zhejiang Province, with a total sea area of 200 square kilometers and a land area of one hundred and thirteen square kilometers. It is called Nanji Islands because Nanji Island is the largest island among the islands, covering an area of 764 square km, and it has the shape of deer. In Chinese, “Ji” means deer.

The weather of Nanji Islands is quite mild throughout the year, and there are a lot of different kinds of algae. On the other hand, there are also a lot of different kinds of shells. Therefore, the authority decided to set up several areas in the Islands. For example, the first area is used as display, and it is open to public. On the other hand, the second area is used to cultivate the algae and shells. This is quite important to the sustainable development of the Islands. Without such measures, it would not be able to provide a very long-lasting attraction.

In order to attract more tourists, the authority had built some other attractions. For example, there are conference rooms to attract people to hold commercial meetings in such a beautiful, relaxing environment. On the other hand, there is also hotel so that people could live there and spend their holidays.

In the future, Nanji Islands would try to develop in a more diverse way. For example, more man-made attractions would be created to attract tourists. On the other hand, the existing beautiful scenery would be kept and conserved. It is expected that Nanji Islands would develop better and better and it would become more influential in Zhejiang and it would try its best to become one of the most attractive tourist spots in Zhejiang.

Peach Blossom Island (in simplified Chinese 桃花岛) is located in the southern fishing port Shenjiamen on the Zhoushan Islands. The beautiful Island covers an area of 43 square kilometers. At the southern part of the Island, there is the highest peak of the island. The peaks are extending all over the mountain, so the ups and downs create a very beautiful and gigantic view. According to some legends, there was once a retried man living on the island, and he tried to make some special medicines. One night, he was depressed with his progress and he was drunk. Then, he spread some wine over the stones of the mountain and after one night, he found that some peach pictures were observed from the remains of the win. Therefore, he called the island, the Peach Blossom Island.

From the founding of the Island to now, there has been about 400 years. However, we could still see that there is a cave inside the mountain. According to some archeologists, the cave belonged to that retired man. Moreover, people found that there were a lot of other spots. Some people believed that these spots were created by the retired man to entertain himself. Anyway, these spots are really beautiful and they are also attractions of the Island.

In Peach Blossom Island, there are a lot of beautiful flower species apart from peach. There are nearly 300 species of plants. Among these species, there are about 10 species which are very rare in the country. Some of them are even listed in the conservation list of the government. Some of the flowers are even sold to countries like Japan and Hong Kong. Therefore, Peach Blossom Island is really very prosperous and it is not places like abandoned island.

When you have time to visit Zhejiang Province, and you arrive at Zhoushan Islands, you could try to spare some time to visit this Peach Blossom Island. You would find that the flowers are very smelly and you would be able to buy some flowers home to cultivate them.

Qiantang River Bridge (in simplified Chinese钱塘江大桥) is located at the south of West Lake, near the Liu He Tower on Qiantang River. It is very important for connecting the north and south of Qiantang River. It is also very important section of Shanghai and Ningbo, Zhejiang-Jiangxi railway traffic.

The construction of Qiantang River Bridge was started in August 8, 1934, which took place for three years and one month. In September 26, 1937, the China’s first railway, highway dual-use bridge was completed. Qiantang River Bridge is a long bridge with 1453 meters, and there are two parts. At the main bridge, there are 16 holes and 15 piers. On the other hand, there is the upper road bridge, which is 6.1 meters wide for vehicles, and there are roads of 1.5 meters on both sides of the bridge.

In fact, just three months after the bridge was built, the Japanese troops set foot on the north shore of the bridge and they were trying to cross the Bridge to invade Zhejiang Province. Therefore, KMT ordered the bombing of the bridge in order to destroy their way. After the success of the Sino-Japanese war, the bridge was rebuilt and traffic on the bridge was resumed. The new bridge was designed by Mao Yisheng basing on the previous design. Indeed, foreigners once said that it was impossible to build the bridge on Qingtang River because the wave speed of the river was quite fast and the construction of the bridge would be very difficult. However, under the design, new technology was applied and the bridge was successfully built. This shows that Chinese people could do something impossible.

After that, the Bridge became a very important highway for Zhejiang Province to communicate with other provinces. It is very helpful for the development of the economy of the province. Therefore, people spent a lot of time and efforts to maintain the well functioning of the bridge.

If you would like to visit this Bridge, you could travel to the terminal of the bridge, and walk along it. However, it is actually quite long, so you should be determined before taking the first step!
